Parenting and Teen Therapy in Lawrenceville, GA

Virtual Therapy Services available throughout Georgia

Your teen is struggling. And you're struggling too. The harder things become for your teen, the harder it can feel to show up as the parent you want to be.

We provide Therapy for parents and teens ready to move beyond survival and toward healing, connection, and hope — because you were never meant to just survive it. You were born to live!

Does this sound like your teen?

Always seems irritable, annoyed but when you engage, they say you don’t listen

Vague or explicit talk about not wanting to be here anymore

Catastrophizing the smallest of things out of fear and feeling overwhelmed

Appearing sad and withdrawn, even though they have a loving and supportive community

Not able to “bounce back” from recent hardship

Oversized clothing to cover up cuts on arms and legs

Together, we'll create a safe space where your teen can begin to understand their emotions, develop healthier ways to cope, and rediscover hope.

Does this sound like you?

You don't know what to say - seems like they’re triggered by everything

You find yourself up late at night, worried, scrolling for answers on the internet

You often lose your cool and find yourself getting into power struggles out of frustration, fear and anxiety

You replay conversations, wondering where things changed, questioning whether you somehow missed the signs or got it wrong.

You’d rather not burden family or friends with your concerns, so you say nothing and keep thoughts and feelings inside

You’re desperate for help and willing to do anything for your child to be well again

We'll support you with the tools, guidance, and confidence to strengthen your relationship and navigate this season with greater clarity.

Meet your Parent & Teen therapist in Lawrenceville, Georgia!

Charletta D. Bourne, LPC

Founder, Creative, Speaker, therapist

You’re stressed out and wildly concerned about your teen. They’re quieter and more distant, endlessly scrolling on their phones, finding comfort being locked inside of their room, less interested in going out with friends, and the list goes on…

You’re not alone in this, though it may often feel that way. I have a unique and relatable way with teens by incorporating humor, creating safe space to share, and getting to the core of the trauma, depression, anxiety, and/or disconnect at home.

My parents’ breakup crushed my spirit and self-esteem growing up. With my own lived personal experiences, Master’s Level education in Mental Health Counseling and licensed in the state of Georgia, it birthed a strong desire to support the adolescent population, and their families. I understand your pain and desperately want you and your child to actually live, and live purposefully, far beyond day-to-day survival.

When I’m not in the counseling room, you can find me performing on stage, in film/tv or spending time with my husband and two daughters over baked sushi!

‍ ‍Yeah, it’s a lot. Let’s talk about it: Yes, recovery is possible. No, it won’t happen overnight. Yes, it’ll be a journey. No, you won’t regret trying.

You are not a bad parent. You are not alone.

Teen & Young Adult Therapy

You’re feeling alone, afraid that nothing will change. You can’t turn your brain off at night. You’re stressed and overwhelmed with school, family, or flashbacks or memories of what happened. You want to share with your parents how you’re feeling but you believe they won't listen or may end up giving you a lecture. You keep your deepest thoughts to yourself because you don’t want your friends to worry about you. You probably had a therapist before, but they were “dry” and couldn’t relate to you. You want to be happy and live a good life, but you just can’t stop negative thoughts that you’d be better off unalive and see past the hurt. I cannot “fix” you, but I can help you get to a place where you’re less heavy, less anxious and more clear about what you feel and why you feel the way you do, and more importantly what you can do to keep yourself safe.

Therapy for parents/caregivers

You’re so stressed about the family dynamics, you forgot how to check in with yourself. Self care, what’s that? You don’t have much time for anything else. You're carrying more than anyone realizes. You’re holding the family together and you’re exhausted - and it shows! The way you communicate with others, how you handle and manage work, home and personal life. But before you can put the oxygen mask over your loved ones to breathe, you must secure the oxygen mask on yourself first. Be well so that you can engage, communicate and parent healthy, whole, and well- it makes all the difference! Here, I provide individual evidence-based treatment focused on challenging your inner critic that contributes to the short fuse and lashing out when you don’t mean to, getting grounded and present in the moment, and getting back to learning the basics of, “How do I feel, really? What do I need at this moment? How can I move forward?”

Family Therapy

If you could handpick your family, it would probably be from your favorite sitcom but we don’t get the luxury in choosing our relatives. Somehow we must all learn to coexist. You often wonder if it's actually possible to live and repair conflict like what’s seen on TV. If everyone is willing, we could make healing, recovery and repair a reality. From parent-child relationships, to blended families, and co-parenting, I provide family therapy with everyone’s treatment goal in mind. This doesn’t mean you won’t ever have conflict again, but what it can mean is having greater empathy and understanding for one another, picking and choosing our battles, and fighting fair.
